"With a heavy heart and tears streaming down my face, I write these words. God has granted me the honor of serving this great club, Zamalek," Gomes said in his statement.
He extended his appreciation to the Egyptian people and Zamalek fans, calling them "warriors" who supported the team in their victories.
"Thank you, Egyptian people, for your kindness, and a very special thanks to Zamalek fans. I hold no ill feelings toward anyone during this period," he added.
Gomes disclosed that he turned down lucrative offers out of his love for Zamalek but felt the current circumstances compelled him to leave.
"I decided to terminate my contract because the circumstances necessary to continue bringing titles to our fans are no longer available. I hope everything improves in this football giant after my departure. This is not a goodbye, but a 'see you later,'" he concluded.
Egyptian media reported earlier on Wednesday that Gomes had received an offer to coach Saudi club Al-Fateh, claiming that he is expected to finalize the deal upon his arrival in the Kingdom on Thursday.
The 54-year-old coach took the helm at the Cairo giants last February, succeeding Colombian tactician Juan Carlos Osorio.
During his tenure, he led the White Knights in 47 matches, securing 27 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses, guiding the team to clinch the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup titles last season.
Gomes boasts a strong record in Saudi Arabia, having managed Al-Taawoun twice and winning the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Ahli Jeddah.
