The reigning Confederation Cup champions, Zamalek and Masry, have each accumulated four points, with Zamalek leading Group D on goal difference over their counterparts from Port Said.

As Zamalek prepares to face Masry, they do so under the shadow of Portuguese coach Jose Gomez's recent departure, as the team aims to defend their continental title.

Portuguese coach Gomes bid farewell to Egyptian side Zamalek last week, expressing gratitude and emotions in a heartfelt statement.

The Whites’ management swiftly appointed former player Ahmed Magdi as the caretaker coach in his place.

Zamalek has struggled against Masry in their recent encounters, failing to secure a victory in the last five games across all competitions.

Their most recent face-off concluded with a 1-0 win for the coastal side in the Egyptian Premier League in late November.

"We are determined to defeat Masry and solidify our position at the top of the group, despite our recent poor results against them,” Zamalek's caretaker coach Magdi told the pre-game’s press conference.

“We promise Zamalek's fans an exceptional performance and a victory, as every player is committed to securing the win," he added.

On the other side, Masry coach Ali Maher expressed confidence in his team's readiness for the upcoming match and their ability to achieve a positive outcome.

"We hold Zamalek, the reigning champions, in high regard and are fully aware of the challenge ahead," Maher conveyed during the press conference.

"Our players are primed for the game, and I have faith in their capacity to deliver a positive result," he added.
