Gross, 69, will take over after Portuguese manager José Gomes, who left Zamalek to manage Saudi club Al-Fateh.

The Swiss tactician will arrive in Egypt with two foreign assistants, while the club plans to include an Egyptian assistant coach.

Local reports indicate that Amir Azmy Megahed is the leading candidate for this role.

The Zamalek board also confirmed the continuation of Mohamed Alaa as the team’s performance analyst.

Gross has previously coached Zamalek during the 2018-2019 season, guiding the team to significant successes, especially in the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.

His side narrowly lost the Egyptian Premier League title to archrivals Ahly after Gross departed three rounds before the season's conclusion due to the expiration of his contract. Khaled Galal took over on an interim basis.

Since leaving Zamalek, Gross has managed Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia and German club Schalke 04.
