“The board decided to accept the resignation of coach Talaat Youssef to continue in his post. The club would like to thank him and his technical staff for their effort during their stint and wish them the best of luck,” read a statement on Modern SC’s official Facebook page.

The former Ittihad of Alexandria player took charge of the team in the middle of last season.

Youssef, 69, has guided them through 19 games in different competitions so far. They have won seven, drawn six, and lost the remaining six.

The team ended the Egyptian Premier League competition in fifth place with 54 points, 31 points behind champions Ahly.

Under Youssef's guidance, Modern SC have failed to secure a single win this season in either the Egyptian Premier League or the Egyptian League Cup.

After playing four games so far, Modern SC currently lie in 15th place in the Premier League table with only three points, seven behind leaders Masry.

Youssef is the fourth coach to leave his job early in the domestic league this season.

Ahmed Eid resigned after a hammering defeat against Zamalek 4-0. Enppi chairman Ayman El Shereei sacked the team's coach Sayed Yassin earlier in December while Jose Gomez quit Zamalek job last week.
