Zamalek are set to clash with Talae El-Geish in the 6th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday as they strive to ascend to the top of the table for the first time this season.

Currently positioned second in the standings with ten points, just one point adrift of leaders Masry, the Whites are in hot pursuit.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Ahly trail closely behind in third place with eight points and a game in hand.

This encounter marks Zamalek's second match under the guidance of Swiss coach Christian Gross, who commenced his second stint with the club last week during a 1-1 draw against Ceramica Cleopatra.

Gross, aged 70, previously enjoyed a successful spell at Zamalek in 2018/19, steering them to their first CAF Confederation Cup triumph—a continental accolade they had been without for 16 years.

However, his tenure was cut short due to disagreements with then-chairman Mortada Mansour regarding a contract extension.

Gross will rely on the likes of in-form winger Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed, striker Sief Jaziri, as well as seasoned players Ahmed Fatouh and Omar Gaber to secure a victory that could potentially propel them to the league summit.

On the other hand, Talae El-Geish, currently in ninth place, is eager to bounce back from a sluggish start to the season, having secured only two wins in their first five outings.
