Both teams retained their positions in the group table, with Zamalek in the driving seat with eight points, three points ahead of second-placed Masry.

Nigerian side Enyimba, who thrashed Black Bulls of Mozambique 4-1 on Sunday, advanced to third place with four points, level with the Mozambican side, which sit at the bottom of the group.

The game was uneventful, with both teams failing to impress during the full 90 minutes.

The first half was particularly dull, featuring three yellow cards—two for Masry and one for Zamalek defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid.

Zamalek's newly appointed coach introduced striker Nasser Mansy and Polish winger Konrad Michalak to improve the team’s poor offensive performance.

They managed to make a slight difference, with veteran midfielder Abdallah El-Saed coming close to scoring a late winner with six minutes remaining, but Masry defender Khaled Sobhy cleared the ball off the line.

Masry had a few shy attempts but failed to pose any real threat.

The next fixture will see Zamalek visit Black Bulls on Sunday, January 12, where a win will help them secure a berth in the competition’s quarter-finals.

On the other hand, Masry will take on Enyimba in Nigeria, also on Sunday.
