The White Knights are treading carefully to avoid another upset against a lower-ranked team after suffering a 1-0 defeat to last-place Modern Sport SC in the Egyptian League last week.
In third place in the league standings with 17 points, Zamalek trails league leaders Pyramids FC by three points and holders Ahly by two.
On the other side, the Red Sea side Gouna are languishing at the bottom of the table with six points after nine matches this season, with one victory, five losses and three draws.
Zamalek's Swiss coach, Christian Gross, faces a lack of options dilemma as injuries plague his squad.
He will be deprived of the services of defender Mostafa El-Zenary, winger Nasser Maher, Mohamed El-Sayed, and Ahmed Hamdi, who are recovering from injury.
Moreover, his go-to Tunisian defender, Hamza Mathlouthi, will also miss the game - and the rest of the season - after sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in the loss to Modern Sport SC.
However, the return of influential midfielder Abdallah El-Said and defender Mahmoud ‘El-Wensh’ Hamdi from injuries that kept them out of the previous game should provide Gross with a much-needed boost to his squad.
Amid shortages, Gross will rely on his seasoned players like Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mostafa Shalabi, and striker Seifeddine Jaziri to deliver a top-notch performance on the field.
On the flip side, Gouna, led by coach Alaa Abdel-Aal, hope to surprise Zamalek and enhance their position in the league standings.
