On Monday, the Cairo giants revealed that they have reached an agreement with the Turkish club to secure the services of the Egyptian international star beginning in July, when the summer transfer window opens. No financial details were disclosed.

The 30-year-old international is currently on loan at Qatari side Al Rayyan but will be eligible to feature for Ahly as they embark on their campaign in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from 14 June to 13 July.

The tireless winger is a pivotal figure for the Pharaohs, having scored 18 goals in 74 matches so far.

He was a member of Egypt's squad that qualified for the 2018 World Cup for the first time in three decades and reached the African Cup final on two occasions in 2017 and 2023.

Ahly are seeking to rebuild their squad following a string of faltering performances since the beginning of the season as they prepare for the prestigious showdown in the US.

The Red Devils have signed three players in January: Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar, midfielder Ahmed Reda, and defender Mostafa El-Esh.

International midfielder Hamdy Fathy will join the team in the summer, just like Trezeguet.

With almost two weeks left until the end of the transfer window in Egypt, Ahly are reportedly still in the market for at least one more player.

A 10-year European journey

A product of Ahly's youth setup, Trezeguet began his European journey in the summer of 2015 by joining Belgian outfit Anderlecht.

He subsequently had stints with Premier League side Aston Villa and Turkish clubs Kasimpasa, Basaksehir, and Trabzonspor.

During his tenure at Trabzonspor, starting from the summer of 2022, Trezeguet delivered standout performances, registering 25 goals and 16 assists in 76 appearances across various competitions.

Trezeguet's contract with Trabzonspor was set to conclude in the summer of 2026.

He has always said that he would want to end his career at his boyhood club, and now his wish has come true.
