“The departure of Magdy Abdel-Aaty from coaching ZED FC’s first team. Thank you for everything,” the club stated on their official social media accounts.
ZED FC finished the first phase in 10th place with 21 points, narrowly entering the relegation zone after Petrojet’s dramatic late victory over Ghazl El-Mahalla.
The team now face a high-stakes battle for survival in the playoff, where the nine lowest-ranked clubs (positions 10–18) will compete to avoid relegation.
Only two clubs from the nine-team relegation pool are set to be demoted from the Egyptian Premier League ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 48-year-old tactician took charge of ZED FC in July 2022 and guided the team to promotion to the top flight ahead of the 2023/24 season, where they finished seventh with 51 points.
Reports indicate ZED FC’s management have reached an agreement with former Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki to take over the team until the end of the season.
ZED FC will kick off their relegation group playoff against Ghazl El-Mahalla on Wednesday 12 March.
