Zamalek’s veteran midfielder Abdallah El-Said
The Egyptian giants will be hosted by Stellenbosch FC, their South African counterparts, on Wednesday in the first leg of the quarterfinals of Africa's secondary club competition.
El-Said, 39, was not included in the travelling squad due to a reported back injury. He scored the opener in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra in Egypt Cup semis.
Zamalek will also be without team skipper and veteran midfielder Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razik due to a knee injury.
Moreover, Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg could not travel with the team after failing to get a visa.
Defending champions Zamalek advanced to the Confederation Cup quarterfinal after topping Group D with 14 points, while the Stellenbosch side finished second in Group B with nine points.
The return match will be played in Cairo on 9 April.
The winner of the Zamalek-Stellenbosch clash will face the victor of the Masry-Simba encounter in the semifinals.
