Egypt's Abou-Treika and El-Hadary nominated for CAF awards

The Egyptian duo Mohamed Abou-Treika and Essam El-Hadary are included in the preliminary list for the African player of the year, based in Africa

The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced on Thursday the preliminary lists for their 2012 awards. Ahly's playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika and Al-Merreikh's Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary featured in a 32-player list for the title of the Africa-based player of the year.

For the top individual award, 34 players have been announced for the African player of the year 2012 to succeed Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure. CAF will announce the top ten nominees for the African Footballer of the Year and the top five African footballers of the Year (based in Africa) by late October after the voting by CAF Media, Technical and Football committees.

The winners will be announced during the GLO-CAF awards Gala that will take place in Accra on 20 December.
