Masry continued their strong start, emerging as the only team with a perfect record.
Ahram Online breaks down five key talking points from the round:
Red cards steal the spotlight
A total of five red cards were shown in the second matchday. Ahly right-back Mohamed Hany received a second yellow card in stoppage time of their 4-1 win over Pharco FC, forcing his side to finish the match with 10 men.
Haras El Hodoud defender Mohamed Gaber was sent off late in their 1-0 win against NBE Club for dangerous play against forward Ahmed Meteb.
Pyramids FC’s 1-0 victory over Ismaily saw three red cards: manager Krunoslav Jurcic was dismissed in the 89th minute, followed a minute later by midfielder Blati Touré, who was sent off after receiving a second yellow.
Ismaily were also reduced to 10 men when one of their defenders was shown a second yellow card.

Masry off to a perfect start
Masry maintained their 100% record with a commanding 3-0 victory over Talae El-Geish on Thursday, moving top of the standings. After their convincing 3-1 win against Ittihad of Alexandria last week, Salah Mohsen, Mounder Temine and Mohamed Makhlouf sealed another impressive night for the Green Eagles.
They are the only side to have won both of their opening matches in the new season.

Low goal return continues
Only 18 goals were scored across the 10 matches in the second round—an average of 1.8 goals per game. Though is is a better average than the 1,5 goals/game during the opening round but still far from being entertaining.
Ahly 4-1 win over Pharco was the highest scoring game, while three fixtures ended in goalless draws, highlighting the lack of attacking sharpness across the league.

Zizo stars for Ahly
Ahmed “Zizo” El Sayed continued his strong start to life at Ahly, scoring twice in the club’s 4-1 win over Pharco.
The international winger added to the two assists he recorded on his debut last week.
Zizo doubled Ahly’s lead with a header in the 21st minute and added a second in the 58th with a low finish after being set up by Achraf Bencharki.
His contributions helped Ahly secure their first win of the season.

Zamalek’s unconvincing start continues
Despite opening their campaign with a 2-0 win, Zamalek were held to a goalless draw by Arab Contractors on Saturday, continuing their underwhelming start to the season.
Coach Yannick Ferrera deployed several new signing including Palestinian duo Oday Dabbagh and Adam Kaied, Moroccan winger Abdelhamid Maali and Brazilian winger Juan Alvin but they could not provide the much needed spark.
The Cairo giants made headlines in the summer by signing 10 new players in a bid to recover from a disappointing 2024–25 campaign.
Ferrera hopes he will be able to turn his fortunes around when the team takes on Modern Sports on Thursday.
