El-Karti, who was named man of the match, opened the scoring early in the first half before sealing the victory in the 68th minute.
The match saw Ahly supporters expressing their frustration, calling for the dismissal of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro, as the Red Devils recorded their worst-ever start to a league season, winning only once in their first four games.
Contrary to expectations, the match began quietly, with both teams cautious in their approach.
However, Pyramids FC earned a free kick just outside the area in the fifth minute. Defender Karim Hafez struck the ball toward Mohamed El-Shennawy’s left post, where El-Karti capitalized on the rebound to score the opening goal.
Ahly pressed forward in search of an equalizer, but Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy emerged as the hero, thwarting all attempts by the Red Devils to find the net.
The Sky Blues’ counterattacks proved dangerous, and although they had opportunities to double their lead, their front line squandered chances due to El-Shennawy's heroics.
Ahly winger Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan forced El-Shenawy into a brilliant save, blocking his header in the 28th minute.
However, despite relentless pressure, Ahly failed to score, ending the first half with Pyramids leading 1-0.
In an effort to freshen up his attack, Riveiro introduced Slovenian striker Nejc Gradišar for Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki.
The defending champions intensified their efforts but continued to struggle in front of goal, while Pyramids posed more threats through their swift counterattacks.
Eight minutes after the hour mark, El-Karti sealed the victory for Pyramids, heading Ahmed Atef's cross into the net against a disjointed Ahly team.
Second-half substitute Taher Mohamed came close to scoring for Ahly with a back-heel shot from close range, but El-Shenawy was again up to the task.
With this result, CAF Champions League reigning champions Pyramids claim their second victory of the league season, climbing to third place in the standings with eight points, while Ahly drops to 12th with only five points.
With the international break looming after a demoralizing defeat, tensions are set to flare for Ahly.
