The Egyptian side clinched the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup after a 3-1 victory over Asian champions Ahli Jeddah in a packed King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Tuesday.
The Congolese forward, was the hero of the day, scoring a hat-trick to secure a historic win for the African champions.
“I am very happy with the great win,” Mayele told Qatari channel Al-Kass on Wednesday.
“What we did against Ahli Jeddah was so difficult, especially with the massive presence of their fans.”
The victory propelled Pyramids FC into the FIFA Challenger Cup, where they will face either Mexico’s Cruz Azul or the yet-to-be-determined CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores champions on 13 December in the Qatari capital Doha.
The winner of this tie will then meet European champions PSG of France for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
