Egypt’s Zamalek, Masry start Confederation Cup journey with key tests in October

Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Masry will kick off their 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup campaigns against Somalia’s Dekadaha FC and Libya’s Ittihad, respectively, in the round of 32 in mid-October.

Both teams enter the competition at the second preliminary round, having received byes based on their CAF club rankings.

Dekadaha secured their place after a 2-0 aggregate victory over Sudan’s Alzamala Umrawaba S.C. in the first preliminary round, while Ittihad advanced by defeating Ethiopia’s Wolitta Dicha SC 3-1 on aggregate.

The two-legged second preliminary round ties are scheduled for the weekends of 17-19 October and 24-27 October, 2025.

Last season, Zamalek and Masry were both eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the secondary continental tournament, losing to South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC and Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, respectively.
