Preview: Zamalek seek redemption against Ghazl El-Mahalla after derby loss

Cairo side Zamalek will take on Ghazl El-Mahalla in the 10th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday, with Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera desperate to turn the team's fortunes around with a victory and avenge their recent Cairo derby defeat to Ahly.

The White Knights enter the game following a 2-1 loss to rivals Ahly on Monday -- thanks to second-half substitute Hussein El-Shahat -- which was preceded by a 1-1 draw against Gouna on Tuesday, 23 September.

Despite the defeat, Zamalek remained atop the league standings with 17 points, two ahead of Masry, who moved into second place ahead of Ahly on goal difference.

However, the White Knights lost the summit to Masry again following the Port Said's side's narrow 1-0 victory over NBE Club on Friday.

Consequently, the 46-year-old tactician expressed his frustration following the defeat to the Red Devils, urging his players to focus on the upcoming games.

"For sure, I'm frustrated with the defeat, but we have to concentrate on the coming games as we have tough fixtures," Ferreira told reporters in the post-match news conference.

Compounding the pressure on Ferrera, the squad will be without several key players, as midfielder Mohamed Shehata and forwards Nasser Mansi and Oday Dabbagh are ruled out due to injury. In contrast, veteran midfielder Abdallah El-Said is suspended.

Ghazl El-Mahalla, on the other hand, will look to capitalise on Zamalek's instability in their quest for only their second league victory this season.

The fourteenth-placed Ghazl El-Mahalla have struggled throughout this campaign, registering just one win and seven draws in their previous nine games.
