The Port Said side held Ittihad to a goalless draw in Tripoli last week, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return fixture.
Masry qualified for Africa’s secondary club competition after finishing fourth in the Egyptian Premier League last season, marking their second successive appearance and seventh overall in the tournament.
The Green Eagles entered this season’s campaign at the second preliminary round after receiving a bye based on their CAF club ranking.
Last season, they reached the quarterfinals before bowing out to Tanzania’s Simba SC on penalties.
Under Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki, Masry have had a good start of the season courtesy to impressive form of striker Salah Mohsen, Algerian winger Abderrahim Deghmoum and midfielder Omar El-Saaiy.
They will, however, be without playmaker Mido Gaber, who suffered a knee injury in Wednesday’s Egyptian League match against Smouha.
The draw for the group stages of both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup for the 2025-26 season will be held on 3 November in Johannesburg, South Africa.
