The Lausanne-based court rejected an appeal by Pyramids FC challenging the Egyptian Pro League’s decision to deduct only three points from Ahly, rather than six, following their no-show in the Cairo derby in March 2025.
Ahly clinched the title by a two-point margin over Pyramids, but the outcome was later contested amid a dispute over the points deduction.
Pyramids argued that three additional points should have been deducted from Ahly’s tally after the record champions withdrew from the Cairo derby against Zamalek.
Ahly had refused to play the fixture because foreign referees were not appointed to officiate the match.
The Pro League’s competition committee initially deducted six points from Ahly’s total.
However, the league’s board later reversed that decision, invoking a force majeure clause that allows it to take appropriate measures under exceptional circumstances.
The league said there had not been sufficient time between the draw and the scheduled match date to appoint foreign referees, noting that regulations permit clubs to request foreign officials provided the request is submitted within an appropriate timeframe.
Following several postponements, CAS ultimately ruled in Ahly’s favour, confirming the club’s 45th league title, according to a club statement.
