The council also approved the return of refereeing analysis segments throughout the tournament period as an exception to SCMR Decision No. 28 of 2024.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
The decision followed a recommendation by the Sports Media Performance Control Committee, headed by State Council Vice President Abdelsalam El-Najjar, which called for temporary broadcasting schedule exemptions to accommodate time zone differences during the tournament.
Under the decision, satellite channels must notify the council of any exceptional broadcasting schedules at least 72 hours before airing.
The committee said refereeing analysis must remain strictly technical and be conducted by refereeing experts holding FIFA-approved international badges.
It added that coverage must be objective and must not include accusations questioning integrity or intent, and that any suggestions of bias or deliberate negligence are prohibited.
The council said the exemptions would automatically expire at the end of the specified period, after which the original regulations would resume without the need for a new decision.
It noted that the SCMR reserves the right to revoke the exemptions for any channel found in violation of the conditions.
