Ahly key player midfielder Hossam Ghaly picked up a serious knee injury before the break of his side's 2-1 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the Club World Cup on Sunday.

The African Champions were forced to make an unscripted substitution before the break after the central midfielder picked up the injury hereby he was replaced by Abou-Treika.

"Ghaly will undergo medical tests on Monday to determine the seriousness of his injury," read a statement on the Ahly's official website.

"There are fears the player suffers a rupture in his anterior knee ligament while the final report will be revealed after the medical tests." The statement added.

The Cairo giants Ahly set up a clash against Brazilian outfit Corinthians in the Club World Cup semi-final after claiming a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
