Egyptian giants Ahly are close to signing ENPPI striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher, the player’s agent revealed on Sunday.

“Ahly's marketing manager Magdy Tolba told me today that his club has reached an agreement with ENPPI to wrap up the deal,” the player’s agent was quoted as saying by Ahram Sport.

“I and the player will go to the Ahly club headquarters tomorrow to finalize the deal. Abdel-Zaher should pen a three-and-a-half year contract,” he added.

The new Egyptian Premier League season kicks off 2 February. Ahly are seeking to bolster their frontline after loaning out Ivorian striker Oussou Konan. They are also expected to offload Mauritania’s Dominique Da Silva.

Abdel-Zaher was the joint top scorer of the Egyptian Premier League in the 2010-11 season with 13 goals.

He made few appearances with Egypt’s senior team under former manager Hassan Shehata.
