Basel coach Murat Yakin said on Wednesday he might sign Egyptian midfielder Mohamed El-Neny next summer after he impressed him during a trial period.
The 22-year-old played two friendly games with Basel during a one-week trial at the Swiss club, scoring once.
“El-Neny has impressed during the trial, “Yakin told Swiss newspaper Blick on Wednesday.
“He is a good player and he will be a good investment for the club in the future.
“Some midfielders will exit the club in the summer and El-Nenny will have a good chance to replace one of them,” he added.
El-Neny, who has become a regular member of Egypt’s senior team squad, is aiming to join compatriot Mohamed Salah at Basel.
