Zamalek will play AS Vita Club of DR Congo in the first leg of the African Champions League round of 32 on 15 March, club officials announced on Tuesday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had asked the Whites to play the match between 15 and 17 March in Cairo.

"We have informed CAF regarding the match date," the Cairo giants said in a statement on their official website on Tuesday.

Zamalek qualified for the round of 32 following a goalless draw at Chad’s Gazelle on Saturday.

The game was a mere formality after they thumped Gazelle 7-0 in Alexandria in the first leg of the preliminary round two weeks ago.

The Whites are bidding to win their first Champions League title since 2002. They have five titles under their belt, two behind arch-rivals Ahly.

Zamalek have made a superb start to their Egyptian Premier League campaign, topping Group B with 15 points from five games.

The Cairo club play Talae El-Gaish on 19 March in the domestic league.
