Ittihad of Alexandria goalkeeper Al-Hani Soliman announces he has officially signed with Cairo giants, Ahly.

"I have officially signed the contract. It is a great honour to play for a club like Ahly," Soliman reveals on television on Monday.

The guard was free to sign for a new a club since his contract with the Alexandria-based club terminates this season.

"Competing with the club goalkeepers will be beneficial for both myself and Ahly," the 28-year-old player added.

Despite the recent outstanding performances of their first-choice goalie Sherif Ekramy, Ahly's technical staff was searching for another goalkeeper to boost the team amid the continuously busy schedule at both the domestic and continental level.

Brilliant saves from goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy helped the Red Devils to a goalless draw with Tunisia's Bizertin in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Sunday.

Ahly, who are seeking to win a record-extending eighth Champions League title, will be favourites to advance to the group stage when they host Bizertin in the second leg in a fortnight.
