Former Egypt senior team coach and current Smouha manager Shawky Gharib
Smouha manager Shawky Gharib is close to leading Ismaily after reaching an agreement with the Dervish management, Al-Ahram Arabic-language news website reported on Friday.
Gharib has agreed with Ismaily management to take charge of the team next season in case Smouha scores a spot in Egypt's Premier League final phase.
The Dervish secured passage to the Egyptian Premier League final phase after defeating El-Entag El-Harby 1-0 on Thursday, joining rivals Ahly and Zamalek.
Smouha are third of Group A with 23 points, three adrift of second place ENPPI, who will take on Ahly on Friday.
Gharib, 54, managed the Egypt Youth national team that won the bronze medal at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina as well as being assistant coach for Egypt senior team winning three Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
