Egyptian club ENPPI was eliminated from the African Confederation Cup round of 16 despite their 3-1 home victory in the second leg against Ethiopia's Saint George.
"The away 2-0 defeat knocked us out of the tournament," says Hussein Amin, ENPPI's assistant coach after Sunday's match to the press.
"We lost because we wasted many easy chances in the two games, which is what Coach Tarek El-Ashry warned the players about," Amin added.
The assistant coach praised Ivorian striker Vincent Die Foneye, who scored the hat-trick for ENPPI despite playing with an injury.
The Confederation Cup has eluded the Egyptian clubs since it was introduced in 2004 by merging the African Cup Winners' Cup and the CAF Cup in a single competition.
After leaders Ahly, ENPPI are currently second of Group A of the Egyptian Premier League with one decisive match remaining against Gouna, as they are only three points before runner-ups Smouha.
