Ahly midfielder Hossam Ghaly said on Friday he might leave the club in the summer for a European adventure.

The 31-year-old, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has just recovered from a serious knee injury that sidelined him for five months.

"I have some European offers, and Ahly's officials have also sat down with me to offer me a new contract. I'm still mulling the two options," Ghaly said on the club's official website.

"I'm considering leaving Egypt because of the ongoing political instability, which is dearly affecting football activity in the country."

Ghaly, who came through Ahly's youth ranks, made his first-team debut in 2001 before joining Dutch side Feyenoord two years later. He also played for Tottenham Hotsupr in England from 2006 to 2009 and had a short loan stint with Derby County.

He returned to Ahly in the summer of 2010 after ending a spell at Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, leading the club to the Egyptian Premier League title in 2011 and the African Champions League crown in 2012.

"I'm not after money; I'm just concerned about the ongoing instability. I just don't want to end my career at that age," Ghaly added.

Ghaly, who is also a regular member of Egypt's squad, is an attacking-minded central midfielder who is consistently lauded for his deft through passes.
