Egypt midfielder Saleh Gomaa will undergo a medical at Greuther Furth on Friday to join the German side on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old, who plays for Egyptian Premier League side ENPPI, left Egypt's training camp for the U-20 World Cup in Spain to complete the move.
"Saleh is known to us. He is an exciting player," Greuther Furth sporting director Rouven Schroder was quoted as saying by German media.
"From his playing style, he reminds us of [Borussia Dortmund midfielder] Ilkay Gündogan. He will join on loan with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season."
Greuther Furth will play in the German second division next season after finishing at the bottom of the elite Bundesliga.
Saleh has played a key role in helping Egypt win the U-20 African Championship in Algeria earlier this year. He was the architect of the young Pharaohs' build-up play as they won their first continental title since 2003.
The central midfielder, who has undergone trials at Belgium's Anderlecht and Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund, has also become a regular member of Egypt's senior team squad under American coach Bob Bradley.
