After four months on the sidelines because of a back injury, Egypt and Ahly striker Emad Meteb resumed practice on Thursday.
The 30-year-old appeared in Ahly’s training session doing a few exercises, Ahram Sport reported on Tuesday.
According to Ahly’s doctor Ehab Ali, Meteb won’t resume full training for another two weeks and could play games in a month’s time.
Meteb has been suffering from recurrent back pains over the past two years until he finally decided to undergo a surgery in April.
Despite a recent slip in form, coach Mohamed Youssef has reiterated his full faith in Meteb as one of the best strikers in Egypt and hopes for a quick return so he could bring him back into the lineup.
Mohamed “Gedo” Nagy is also expected in the next few weeks to return from foot surgery that has kept him on the bench over the past three months to give Ahly’s frontline a big boost.
Both players aren’t expected to help Ahly in the group stage of the CAF Champions League but would be major assets if the Cairo giants go further.
