Zamalek newly-signed goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Gabal expressed joy over entering the White Castle on Sunday.
"I penned my papers today right before the Orlando Pirates match and I am so happy I joined Zamalek," Abu Gabal was quoted as saying on the club's official website Sunday night.
The former ENPPI goalie signed a three-year contract with the Cairo-based club in a free transfer deal. "I hope I can serve my new club and prove my worth," Abu Gabal said.
The keeper will be in bitter competition with the squad’s two powerful players in his position -- Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed and Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim 'Gennesh' -- besides talented youngster Mahmoud Hamdy. "It's hard to compete in the goalkeeping position, but I want to make the best use of Abdel-Wahed's experience," he added.
Zamalek claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa's Orlando Pirates on Sunday to revive their hopes of reaching the African Champions League semis.
