Ismaily's newly-joined striker Mohamed Shaaban (aka Zika)
Ismaily's newly-joined striker Mohamed Shaaban (aka Zika) expressed responsibility on joining the costal club.
"I will do my best to be a source of joy for Ismaily fans," Zika told the Ismailia-based club Tuesday.
The young player joined Ismaily from Arab Contractors after speculations linked him with Egyptian champions Ahly.
"I am really sad that Ismaily were defeated against Wadi Degla in Egypt Cup semi-final. We really deserved to win."
Ismaily lost 8-7 in a penalty shootout, after a goalless draw in Luxor last Sunday, enabling Degla to reach their first ever Egypt Cup final.
"I want fans to forgive me, as I just joined last month and need time to prove my worth to the team," he added.
Under the leadership of former Egypt assistant coach Shawky Gharib, who helped the Pharaohs win three successive Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 and 2010, Ismaily are preparing for the new season.
They are scheduled to play Petroleum club ENPPI on 14 November, nine days before the kick-off of the Egyptian Premier League.
"Friendly games amid league preparations will be a key factor in gaining the fitness I need," Zika concluded.
