The Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich FC have expressed warm congratulations to Egyptian champions Ahly after gaining their eighth African Champions League trophy.

"Congratulations to Al Ahly for winning the African Champions League! See you at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco!" stated the club on their Facebook page, which has some 10 million fans.

Ahly will face AFC Champions League Guangzhou Evergrande of China on 14 December, bidding for a spot in the semi-finals to play against the European champions.

The tournament will take place in Morocco for the first time, following previous editions in Brazil, Japan and the UAE.

The Cairo-based club won 2-0 at home on Sunday (3-1 on aggregate) against South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
