Bayern Munich's official Facebook page thanked Egyptian fans for their support following the Bundesliga 3-0 win over Broussia Dortmund.
"Dear fans in Egypt, thank you so much for your fantastic support! Borussia Dortmund 0 - 3 FC Bayern München. PS: factory of chairs... ;)," was posted on the page Monday, which has over 10 million fans.
The "factory of chairs" expression is a quote from several modern Egyptian movies, referring to a location in Cairo's poor district, Embaba, known to be tough and isolated. The expression is used to mock lovers who seek privacy in an isolated place, and also as sarcastic humiliation in male teen conservation.
Communication between fans on the site intensified following inquiries into the meaning of the phrase by the page's admin.
Earlier this month, following Ahly's win in the CAF Champions League, securing them a place in the FIFA Club World Cup, which Bayern is also participating in as European Champions, the page congratulated the African team. This is when the comment first arose, with Egyptian fans claiming, "Ahly would take Bayern behind the factory of chairs."
The Red Devils will open their fifth Club World Cup campaign by playing Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande of China on 14 December, and the German side will be face the winner.
