Egyptian giants Ahly secured a morale-boosting win after beating Moroccan side Maghreb de Fes 2-1 in Sunday's friendly match amid preparations for FIFA Club World Cup that begins 11 December.
Veteran playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika made a brilliant pass to striker Emad Meteb who delivered the ball directly into the foes nets in the 33rd minute to give the visitors an early lead. The magician Abou-Treika doubled the score five minutes before the break.
Ahly's substitute goalkeeper Mahmoud Abou El-Soud wasn't lucky enough to keep his goal clean as he couldn't stop the Moroccan team only goal few minutes ahead of the final whistle.
The Red Devils coach Mohamed Youssef was eager to try most of his players during the friendly match to check his team's readiness ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Ahly will represent Africa in the Club World Cup for the fifth time after winning the African Champions League earlier this month against South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
They will start their campaign 14 December against Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande of China in the quarter-finals.
The winner will face European champions Bayern Munich in the semifinal 17 December.
Ahly's best showing was a third-place finish in the 2006 tournament in Japan.
