The president of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Samir Zaher, announced in his meeting with the Egyptian Premier League clubs' presidents on Tuesday that random doping tests on football players will begin in January, according to the EFA website.
Tests will be applied randomly to a sample of two players from each team, stated the EFA website.
Doctor Ashraf Al-Alfy, chief of the EFA's medical committee, will hold a meeting with the clubs' medical staff to give them further details and explain the new system next week.
This a major development, since it is the first time that such tests will be conducted despite many Egyptian players facing doping accusations in International competitions, as well as by the local media.
