Ahly deserved to qualify for the group stage of the African Confederation Cup, coach Mohamed Youssef has said.
Striker Ahmed Raouf scored in stoppage time to ensure Ahly qualified for the group stage on the away goal rule following a 2-1 defeat by Difaa Jadida in Morocco.
The Cairo giants won the first leg in Egypt 1-0.
"Ahly players were the best during the game against Difaa Jadida," Youssef was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game.
"I was confident that the players would fight for the group stage post until the final whistle.
"I congratulate the players for the qualification but I informed them that the coming games would be tougher," he added.
Ahly are the second team to reach the group stage after Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast booked their place by beating Bayelsa of Nigeria 3-0 on aggregate.
