The Netherlands embassy in Egypt celebrated, via its Facebook page, the qualification of its national team for the quarterfinal of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after they defeated powerful Mexico 2-1 Sunday, but with a gesture to Egyptians.

"The Netherlands is qualified for the quarter-finals ... Hup Holland Hup…" it said on Sunday, adding, "Though we are quite happy, we cannot forget the goal of Captain Magdi Abdel Ghani against us in the 1990 World Cup (Egyptians would relate!)."

In 1990 in Italy, Egypt forward Magdy Abdel-Ghany scored from a penalty against Netherlands in the group stage of the World Cup. This was the last goal by Egypt in the World Cup finals.

The 54-year-old star made 50 appearance for Egypt, scoring five goals. One of them was against the Netherlands, which made him proud of scoring Egypt's only goal at the 1990 World Cup.
