Newly-appointed goalkeepers coach Ahmed Nagi has expressed his excitement over the Egyptian Football Association's (EFA) confidence in him.

"I want to thank the association for their trust. I have a strategic plan to cooperate with all Egyptian club goalkeeper coaches," Nagy was quoted as saying on the Middle East News Agency.

Nagi is among the new Egyptian technical staff chosen Monday, under the helms of Argentinean coach Hector Cuper, following the sacking of Shawky Gharib due to failing to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Cuper is selecting two more assistant coaches in addition to Osama Nabih- the Zamalek player. The appointment has not been made official as paper work is yet to be finalised.

"I am preparing workshops to use the best technologies in the field. I have been dreaming of this post since my early childhood," he expressed.

Egypt will be bidding for the 2018 World Cup for the first time since 1990. They will start the 2017 African Cup qualifiers in June and the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in October.

"Egypt is full of good goalies that are capable and responsible enough to guard the Pharaohs net," Nagi added.

Reports have suggested the possible appointment of long-time Egypt goalie Essam El-Hadary for the post earlier this week but the Ismaily player expressed surprise, though stressing he is still willing to play.

"These reports surprised me. I am still capable of giving on the field. I am not rushing the coaching career as I didn't retire from football yet," the 42-year-old former Ahly and Zamalek keeper said.
