Egypt's newly-appointed coach Hector Cuper has announced a list of Egyptian-based players called up to play the 26 March friendly against Equatorial Guinea, amid preparations for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.

The Argentinean manager called-up nine foreign-based players on Monday, including Mohamed Salah of Fiorentina, for the Pharaohs' first training camp since the dismissal of former manager Shawky Gharib.

The winners of three successive Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) (2006, 2008 and 2010) will be in the training camp for one week before the game that will be held in Morocco.

Egypt's last gathering was on 19 November when they lost 2-1 to Tunisia, ending their chances of qualifying for AFCON 2015. Gharib was sacked days after.

Cuper's mission is tougher as the domestic competitions are still suspended since 8 February when 20 Zamalek fans were killed during a stampede after being tear-gassed by security forces, who attempted to prevent them from attending an Egyptian Premier League match against ENPPI at the army-owned Air Defence Stadium.

Argentinean coach Cuper, 59, took charge of the team this month in a three-year deal, with ambitions of bringing the team back to its former glory.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami (Ahly), Ahmed El-Shenawi (Zamalek), Ali Lotfy (ENPPI), Mohamed El-Shenawi (Petrojet)

Defenders: Mohamed Naguib, Saad Samir, Bassem Ali, Hussein El-Sayed (Ahly), Ali Gabr (Zamalek), Ayman Ashraf (Smouha), Ragab Nabil (Wadi Degla).
