The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board is holding discussions to pick a replacement for Egypt's Olympic coach Hossam El-Badry, who is to return as Ahly's manager.

"Favourites for the job include Tarek El-Ashry, Hani Ramzy and Hossam Hassan," EFA spokesman Azmy Megahed told Ahram Online.

El-Ashry made his name leading Haras El-Hodoud for seven years, inspiring them to clinch two Egypt cups in 2009 and 2010, as well as the Egyptian Super Cup in 2009.

Ramzy is a former Olympic coach who led them in the 2012 London Olympics after winning the African tournament.

Hassan started his coaching career with Masry before leading Zamalek. The enthusiastic manager is currently leading Alexandria's Ittihad.

Local media have also suggested former Zamalek coach Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' as El-Badry's successor.

The Ahly club board, under leadership of Mahmoud Taher, have reached an a agreement with El-Badry to take charge of the team, after they fired Spaniard Juan Carlos Garrido for failing to lead the team to victory in the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Premier League.

The club is expected to officially announce the contract details within hours.
