The Egyptian national team coach Hector Cuper has called up Zamalek and Ahly players to complete the Pharaohs' squad for the upcoming Malawi friendly in preparation for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pharaohs' coach delayed calling up Ahly and Zamalek players until they finished their participation in the second leg games of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16.

Ahly and Zamalek reached the CAF Confederation Cup group stage on Sunday after beating Tunisian side Club Africain and Sanga Balende of DR Congo respectively.

The Argentine Cuper called up eight Zamalek players: Ahmed El-Shennawy, Omar Gaber, Hazem Emam, Ali Gabr, Ibrahim Salah, Ahmed Tawfik, Mostafa Fathi and Bassem Morsi.

Only two players from Ahly, who are still in Tunisia, will join the Egyptian team camp- Saad Samir and Ramadan Sobhi.

Egypt, who have won seven AFCON trophies, have been drawn in Group G of the 2017 qualifiers along with Nigeria, Tanzania and Chad.

The team has been out of action since November when they failed to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations under former coach Shawky Gharib.

Since, Egypt have played only one friendly match in March under Cuper, defeating Equatorial Guinea 2-0.
