Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady is doubtful for Egypt’s home game against Tanzania in their first 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

"Elmohamady suffers a knock in his back and he needs treatment so he is likely to be out of the squad," the Pharaohs doctor, Osama El-Shaer, told an Egyptian TV programme on Wednesday.

The qualifier to the Gabon finals will be held in Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on 14 June behind closed door due to security concerns.

Chelsea star Mohamed Salah, 22, who is on loan to Fiorentina, is fit for the game despite experiencing a breathing problem in last match of the Italian league.

"Salah has recovered and is ready for his national team," the doctor added.

Ahly's Ramadan Sobhi who skipped the Malawi friendly this week has also recovered from the injury he sustained during Tunisia’s Club Africain game in his side's win in the African Cup.

The Pharaohs, who have won seven AFCON trophies, have been drawn in Group G of the 2017 qualifiers along with Nigeria, Tanzania and Chad.

They have been out of action since November, when they failed to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
