The Tunisian refereeing team appointed for the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Egypt and South Africa will arrive ín Cairo on Friday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) named referee Slim Jedidi and assistants Bechir Hassani, Mohsen Ben Salem, Yosr Saadallah to oversee the game. They will be monitored by Dominic O'Neill of Nigeria.

The 41-year old Jedidi is a controversial referee in the Tunisian League. Esperance issued a complaint to the Tunisian Football Association (TFA) over his decisions during their match with Olympic Bajy before he apologised for his poor performance.

The TFA, however, considers the international referee as one of the best in Tunisia, regularly appointing him for tricky matches as he is known to be strict and neutral.

Jedidi ruled on an Egyptian pitch last season when he monitored the relegation clash between Gouna and Shorta after the TFA recommended him to their Egyptian counterpart's refereeing committee under the leadership of Mohamed Hossam.

Sunday's African qualifier is critical to the Pharaohs, holders of seven titles, as they are in a must-win situation from the bottom of Group G. They have a single point and trail South Africa (seven), Niger (six) and Sierra Leone (two) at the halfway stage.

The winners of the 11 groups and the two best runners-up will qualify for the biennial tournament.
