Nigeria will host Egypt on 25 March in the first leg of the 2017 Cup of Nations qualifiers, while the return match will be played in Alexandria on 29 March, the Confederation of African Football announced late on Friday.

The Pharaohs, who take on Burkina Faso in a friendly on Saturday, are on top of Group G of the Nations Cup qualifiers with six points from wins over Tanzania and Chad.

Nigeria are second on four points.

Egypt are bidding to reach the Nations Cup for the first time in five years since last winning their record seventh title in 2010.

Under the guidance of Argentinean manager Hector Cuper, who took over in March 2015, Egypt played two friendly matches late on January; losing 1-0 to Jordan before beating Libya 2-0.
