Olympic team replaces first team in 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier

Egypt Olympic team coach, Hany Ramzy, on Monday announced his 30-man squad to face Niger in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on 8 October.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) named the Olympic team to replace the first team in playing the remaining games of the African qualifiers to prepare for the 2012 London Olympics qualifiers.

The Pharaohs’ hopes of reaching next year’s African Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are virtually over as they are at the bottom of Group G with two points, seven behind leaders South Africa.

Egypt squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed Abou Gabal (ENPPI), Aly Lotfy (ENPPI), Ahmed El-Shenawi (Masry), Mohamed Bassam (Gaish)

Defenders: Ahmed Sobhi (ENPPI), Saad Samir (Arab Contractors), Moaz El-Hennawy (Maqassa), Rami Rabea (Ahly), Mohamed Abdel-Fattah (Ahly), Ahmed Hegazi (Ismaily), Ali Fathi (Arab Contractors).

Midfielders: Omar Gaber (Zamalek), Saleh Goma (Smouha),Mohamed El-Nenni (Arab Contractors), Mohamed Ibrahim (Zamalek), Ahmed Hamoudy (Smouha), Shehab Ahmed (Ahly), Ahmed Hassan (Zamalek), Hossam Hassan (Masry), Hesham Mohamed (Smouha), Islam Ramadan (Haras El-Hodoud), Ahmed Magdy (Ghazl El-Mehalla), Amr Soulia (Ismaily), Mohammed Wahid (Ismaily).
