Egypt placed 43rd in FIFA's global rankings of national teams in July, two places up from their June placement at 45.

The Pharaohs, who have already secured a place in the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals, defeated Tanzania 2-0 in the tournament's qualifiers in June.

Egypt are fifth continentally and second among Arab countries after Algeria, who are at number 32.

Algeria, who kept their position in the July rankings, top the African nations.

The top rankings saw no changes with Argentina keeping their lead followed by Belgium in second place and Colombia in third.

Euro 2016 second-placed France have joined the world's top ten teams, jumping ten places to reach the seventh spot while Wales's memorable charge to the Euro 2016 semi-finals has lifted them up 15 places to 11th. Champions Portugal jumped two rungs to sixth with beaten finalists and hosts France climbing 10 spots to seventh.

In July's rankings, which were released on Thursday, New Zealand (93) moved up the most places, up 54 positions, while Belize (164) were the worst, falling a full 50 places.

Egypt made it into the world's top 10 when they won three successive African Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010. They last reached the World Cup in 1990.
