Egypt striker Amr Zaki has been ruled out of Monday’s friendly game against five-time world champions Brazil due to a pelvic injury.

The in-form frontman picked up the injury during Zamalek’s 2-1 defeat by Ittihad El-Shorta in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday.

Zaki, who was named in Bob Bradley’s 22-man squad for the high-profile friendly against Brazil, made an impressive start to the season, netting three goals in the first five league games.

The former Wigan Athletic’s man injury leaves Bradley with three recognised forwards at his disposal – Ahly’s Emad Meteb, Borussia Dortmund’s Mohamed Zidan and Dodo El-Gabbas, who plays for Belgian side Lierse.

Zamalek left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafy was earlier excluded from the squad after sustaining an injury.

Egypt face Brazil on Monday in Qatari capital Doha. Both sides are expected to meet again in February next year.
