Egypt Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher has praised the Olympic team for their 2-0 victory over South Africa and booking a place in the U-23 African Championship semifinal in Morocco.

“I ask the Olympic team technical staff and players to perform like they did against South Africa when they meet Morocco in the semis to book an early place in London,” read a statement on the EFA website.

“We are eager to send pleasure to the people in Egypt as they are waiting for a place in London,” Zaher said.

The young Pharaohs will reach next year’s London Games for the first time since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona if they overcome hosts Morocco, who finished Group A runners-up, in the semifinal on Wednesday.
