Mustafa Younis ha announced his resignation from leading youth team
Egypt youth team coach Mostafa Younis has stepped down from his position just three months ahead of the African youth championship set to be held in Libya next march.
“I presented my resignation to Egypt FA today to find my replacement who will lead the team in the African Cup of Nations Finals,” Younis told Ahram Online.
The former Ahly defender has been in charge of the team over the past couple of years and was able to lead them to the continental finals.
“I took this decision because I have other engagement, as I won’t be able to combine working with the team alongside my media job,” he said.
Younis has his own Sports’ TV program and has been under a lot of pressure lately to make a choice.
Former Egypt youth coach Diaa El-Sayed is the most prominent candidate to take over the vacant job.
The young Pharaohs will compete alongside hosts Libya, Cameroon, Mali, Ghana Gambia, Nigeria and Lesotho in the tenth edition of the U20 ACN that will be held from 18 March to 1 April 2011.
