Barcelona striker Luis Suarez does not believe Egypt would be heavily affected if they missed star forward Mohamed Salah in their opening World Cup game against Uruguay on 15 June.

Liverpool winger Salah is doubtful for the Uruguay clash after picking up a shoulder injury in the first half of his side's 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.

According to the Egyptian Football Association, the 25-year-old faces up to three weeks on the sidelines and there are hopes he could still recover in time to feature in the game.

Suarez was quoted by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo as saying that it's not a "plus" for Uruguay if Salah could not make it.

"When I'm playing I look at the other teams and I want them to be the best," Suarez added.

He also backed Salah to quickly recover from the injury.

"I wish you all the best, that you can recover … for a World Cup that every player dreams of playing," Suarez said.
